  Properties:
Particle size 1 - 10 µm

Remarks:
The projected area (Heywood) diameter of a particle was determined by 30-mg-sample in a 1-g-particles-bottle using the dynamic image analysis apparatus with the image analyzed software. The diameter for count-based undersize in the above table was obtained from the average value of 10 set count-based particle size distribution, where Heywood diameters of over 22,000 particles were measured in each set and the particle size distribution was calculated. In the determination of the certified value, NIST traceable standard PSL particles (4203A, Thermo Fisher Scientific Particle Technology, Fremont, CA, USA) were simultaneously measured under the same conditions as particle measurement using a dynamic image analysis apparatus, and the length of one side pixel of the CCD camera was calibrated. Therefore, this the certified value of this CRM is traceable to the International System of Units (SI). A unit of CRM consists of barium-titanate glass beads in three glass bottles with powder of one gram each or in one glass bottle with powder of five grams. The CRM is used only under clean conditions and at temperature between 4 °C and 30 °C, and handled gently for splash and dusting prevention. In order to prevent adsorption of moisture in the atmosphere, the caps of the bottle is tightly closed.

Intended Use:
This CRM was produced in accordance with JIS Z 8900-1:2008. The expanded uncertainty of the particle diameters was evaluated by ISO 14411-2:2020 (JIS Z8899:2023). This CRM is intended for use in controlling the precision of analysis or confirming the validity of analytical methods or instruments for the determination of particle size distribution using particle sizing instruments such as light scattering method and electrical sensing zone method.

  Properties:
Particle size 10 - 100 µm

Remarks:
The projected area (Heywood) diameter of a particle was determined by the image analyzed software with the picture taken by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the count-based particle size distribution was calculated from Heywood diameters. The diameter for count-based undersize was obtained from the average value of 10 set count-based particle size distribution, where Heywood diameters of 5,000 particles were measured in an each set and the particle size distribution was calculated. In the determination of the certified value, the 50 μm pitch pattern of the NIST traceable magnification reference standard & stage micrometer (MRS-4.1, Geller Microanalytical Laboratory, Boston, MA, USA) was used as the length of particle diameter in SEM pictures, which were taken by the same shooting condition as that of taken the magnification reference standard. The certified value of this CRM is traceable to the International System of Units (SI). This CRM consists of barium-titanate glass beads with the particle diameter from 10 µm to 100 µm in 3 glass bottles with powder of 1 gram each or in 1 glass bottle with powder of 5 grams. The CRM is used only under clean conditions and at temperature between 4 °C and 30 °C, shielded from light, and handled gently for splash and dusting prevention. In order to prevent adsorption of moisture in the atmosphere, the caps of the bottle is tightly closed.

Intended Use:
This CRM was produced in accordance with JIS Z 8900-1 “Standards particles - Part 1: Reference particles for calibrating particle size measurements apparatus”, and with APPIE’s management system in compliance with ISO GUIDE 34:2000 and ISO/IEC 17025:2005. This CRM is intended for use in confirming the validity of analytical methods or instruments for the determination of particle size distribution using particle sizing instruments such as light scattering and electro sensing zone methods.
